The road trip doesn’t officially start till tomorrow, since we flied into New Orleans but so far this trip has been great. My definite highlight so far, besides getting to see Katie is definitely the World War Two Museum.

From the second you walk into that four storied tribute to our greatest generation you are hit by the sheer reality of Winston Churchill’s words

“Never was so much owed by so many to so few”

The exhibits have audio narratives from servicemen and women and also those on the home front, newsreels, recreation of an Atlantic wall bunker, a glider transport with a jeep ready to wreck havoc behind German lines and a Higgins boat. There was even a display showing the hedges that created such trouble for the Allied forces once they broke out from the beach.

All in all the history major in me was in absolute heaven. And I honestly believe no matter how much World War Two history one might now, or how unfamiliar with the subject you are the National World War Two Museum was amazing. Stephen Ambrose definitely did a spectacular job.
